Originally posted on The YingYang Life. However, I wanted to post here too and add some detail around my fitness goals.
I have already started with a 90 day challenge that ends in March 2017. So my fitness intentions will be well established even before the New Year. My nutrition needs to be dialed in even more and I am working on finding a solution that works for me (meal prep, prepared meals, etc.). Here is the rest of the story:
So 2016 was my year of determination and I had two goals, to get healthy and find some work life balance. The beginning of the year, as with most, was the easiest to keep these things in the forefront of my mind. However, as time progressed I had some difficulties along the way. First, I injured my foot while training for a run. I was unable to keep up the fitness routine I had started and instead of finding an alternative I gave up on myself a bit.
I was then in a car accident and the trauma brought back my depression and anxiety. Fortunately, I went back to therapy and on medication, in addition to using essential oils for relaxation and stress relief. I was determined not to let it keep me down for long. In the course of my therapy sessions, I made some realizations, including how inauthentic I was being to myself. I am much stronger, creative, and capable then I was willing to admit to myself.
The last theee months of this year I have my determination back to complete the goals I set at the beginning of the year. I have learned that work will always be there and is a means of financing my happiness and passions. I have learned to set it aside when home and really focus on the family. It is still a work in progress but gets easier all the time.
I have even more focus on my health. I have gotten intentional with my workout and eating plan and will continue into 2017.
So with all of that, 2017 will be my year of Fearless Freedom. To me this encompasses what I want to be he most. Capable of taking the “I can’t” mentality out of my vocabulary and replacing it with “How can I accomplish . . .” I want to continue to peruse my health, add some more practices to my daily routine, and find adventure in daily life.
I encourage you to set the intention you wish to live and focus on it every day!
